In the center of historic Florence, the Hotel Brunelleschi is named for the architect who designed the Duomo (which is visible from the property). The hotel is truly steeped in history; during renovation, there were several archaeological discoveries, leading to the development of a private museum on-site for their display.
It's hard to find a better location than the Brunelleschi. Many of Florence’s greatest Renaissance sights are close by: The Medici chapels, Giotto’s bell tower, the Uffizi Gallery, the Academy of Fine Arts and Michelangelo’s David are all just a few minutes walk away. The hotel can even arrange guides to different museums if guests are looking for an insider view of the city's history.
The 96 rooms come with marble bathrooms and air conditioning; shown is a Deluxe Room. The 96 rooms all come with marble bathrooms, soundproof windows and air conditioning, which isn't always standard in Florence, while some rooms even have views of the Duomo and Giotto’s tower. (There is significant renovation going on at the property until May, though, so request a room away from the construction areas.)
Reopening in May, the on-site restaurant, Santa Elisabetta, serves traditional Tuscan specialties that capture the flavors and warmth of the region. Guests can work off a proper Florentine meal in the on-site gym, though a vacation in Florence is rarely about staying fit and trim (or staying indoors at all, for that matter).
Whether your number one activity in Florence is designer-shopping, museum-hopping or wine-sipping, the Brunelleschi is a stylish and centrally located launching point for an adventure. It also pairs excellently with the add-ons provided by the tour operator Willing Foot: a two-day tour of historic Florence or a one-day culinary adventure through Tuscany.
