Hotel Cipriani

The Hotel Cipriani is as iconic with Venice as the Piazza San Marco. While it is not several hundred years old, nor even in the city proper, the hotel has found its way to being Venice’s most famous hotel.

Founded by Giuseppe Cirpriani, also the owner of Harry’s Bar, which famously served Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Noel Coward, and Gertrude Stein, on Giudecca Island in 1958, there haven’t been many changes. Walter, the barman, is a staple, still makes the best Bellinis, a drink invented by Cipriani, in town.

The former 15th-century residence of aristocrats, The Palazzo Vendramin is now a part of the Hotel Cipriani. Made up of 16 rooms and suites with spectacular views of St. Mark’s Square, it’s one of the few new changes.

The rooms are slightly less than extraordinary, with tiny bathrooms and a worn appearance. However, it’s part of the quiet charm of the Cipriani. The room doesn’t distract from the extraordinary beauty of the view outside. While other hotels gaze into the lagoon, the Cipriani looks at Venice, which is a site to behold.

Breakfast is unique, with white mozzarella, blood orange juice, and golden espresso rounding out a unique experience. The service is excellent, especially the Palazzo’s private butler service which comes with the room.

The private motor launch runs all day, until the last guest has checked in. The saltwater pool, Joan Collins’ favorite in the world, is heated so you can swim in the spring and autumn months. On mild days, thin, beautiful guests can be seen taking in lunch pool side.

The rooms aren’t cheap, costing at least a grand per night, depending on the style and room availability. The rooms are booked pretty solidly, so try to get your reservation as soon as its possible.

Beauty & Wellness

The Casanova Wellness Centre is named for the legendary lover who once held clandestine trysts in what are now the gardens of the Hotel Cipriani.

Its romantic allure is especially strong in the brand-new treatment cabin designed for massages for couples—or you can luxuriate in a ritual focused on a bath infused with essential oils and scattered with flower petals. Other treatments, such as side-by-side pedicures with your best friend, mother or daughter, can also be enjoyed.

Throughout the Centre you will find a welcoming, relaxing and rejuvenating atmosphere designed to promote wellbeing and beauty. Sumptuous products by Aromatherapy Associates and Sothys are used.

A spacious Fitness Centre with the latest technological equipment, a steam bath and a sauna provide a tranquil environment where guests can work out, enjoy head-to-toe pampering and relax in an intimate setting.

The Casanova Wellness Centre also includes a hair salon, offering a full range of styling and treatments for men and women.
