Touring the Amalfi Coast
- Possibly one of the most attractive spots of vacation in Europe, Amalfi coast is filled with strands of rough rocks as well as sharp edged cliffs which lengthens all the way to the Italian coast of Salerno and Sorrento.
Amalfi coast is the busiest during its high time in August, where the peak would usually be full with parked tour buses and private cars and full of people trying to snap beautiful pictures of the coast.
Amalfi coast however quiet down during late spring and early summer and it becomes one of the best spots for lovers to truly experience a spiritual experience together, while visiting one town to another at Amalfi Coast.
- Naples, a worthy pit stop
During travel around Europe, why not stop by Naples and enjoy its world renowned cuisine? Enhance the experience by renting out the most expensive car you could afford, which is actually surprisingly affordable, and blaze through town searching for delightful treats as you feel the cool breeze in your hair while driving in the convertible luxury sports car.
Naples could be very beautiful on the eyes, as well as a place to stop by for delicious food. However, there are too many things around, and too many crowd everywhere, therefore making it best, only as a place to drop by if you could afford it.
If you don't feel like it, there is no harm in skipping to visit Naples. After all, a whole range of other delight awaits you.

Day 1 - Sorrento
- Sorrento had been mentioned in mythology and history, especially in the world's classic literature, Odyssey by Homer, it is said to be the home of the sirens. Sometimes sailors and visitors would vouch that they had heard whispers and hymns of angelic voices. Sorrento is located on the northern coast of Amalfi, and it is said that the best places of Sorrento is actually out of the city.
This is true, as the town of Sorrento looks like any other city in the Italian Riviera. If you are looking for holiday thrills around Sorrento, you should head out of the city, like for example, the La Minervetta which is located just right out of Sorrento, a hotel on a dangerous cliff, but it has a view to die for which overlooks the nearby ports of Sorrento, the gateway to Capri, as well as the Bay of Naples.
La Minervetta offers comfortable rooms with nice colors as well as a stylish in-house eatery.
Day 2 - Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi
- Whenever you plan a trip to the Amalfi Coast, you should never ever leave out visiting Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi, especially the Don Alfonso 1890 restaurant there. Porbably one of the best restaurant in whole of Italy, the Don Alfonso 1890 is located between Positano and Sorrento in a rural ocean community.
The cooks of the place are father and son chef powerhouse who had both own a two michelin star for their restaurant, which now also comes with a 5 star hotel.
The rooms of the Don Alfonso 1890 hotel most definitely is heavy influenced by Italian decorations and architecture with its baroque antiques as well as wooden furniture and vibrant colored tile for bathrooms.
The Laccarino family ensures that guests have the perfect experience as they take care of guests needs from breakfast right until bed time.

Day 3 and 4 - Positano
- Finally, where most of the 'action' is, Positano is probably one of the best stops at Amalfi. It could be accessed through rough roads with worrying cliffs on the sides, overlooking stunning rock beaches which looks picture perfect like in postcards. When you finally arrive at Positano, you would know as it hits you like a fantasy land.
The place is so beautiful with villas side by side of each other, some on the hillside, and all connected via pavement built by the locals as well as staircases made out of stones. It could be quite confusing to navigate through the city of Positano.
One of the best place to crash is the hotel owned by the Sersale family which had been with them for generations, called Le Sirenuse. However we cannot forgot to suggest you another two incredible Hotels in Positano: The amazing San Pietro di Positano and Covo dei Saraceni. Both of them are in front of the sea. Very romantic view.
Positano - Visit the Beach
- Le Sirenuse usually provides a free tanning bag, be sure to take it along with you to the beach, right after you put on your swimwear and wear over a simple cover up. The beach are usually fill with parasols of the clubhouses and those of visitors, as well as stones, pebbels and rocks.
The best spot where all the hip crowd of stunning Italian girls and hunky Italian guys always hang out is at the very end where you are able to rent one of their metal loungers for 8 Euros per day. It is best, however to take those two to three rows away from the sea to avoid the painful rocks.
Positano - Shop around
- Right opposite of Le Sirenuse is a shop called the Emporio Sirenuse which is run by the hotel owner's wife. It is probably one of the best place to get all things Positano as they carry all sorts of stuff ranging from clothing, tableware, freagrances, souvenirs and so much more. Another place to shop for is at the Eau d'Italie which has furniture and decorations which are praised even by John Steinbeck for its beauty and uniqueness.

Positano - Gourmet Exploring
- If you don't feel like eating out at Le Sirenuse, you are always welcome to the II san Pietro, which has rival chefs to the Sirenuse. The II San Pietro however is much more popular compared to the restaurant in Le Sirenuse as Belgian chef running the II San Pietro, Alois Vanlangenaeker is very good with his Campania region cuisine, to the delight of both locals and tourists alike.
If you think that Le Sirenuse and the il San Pietro offers dishes too extravagant for your taste, head over to Max's, an eatery in town which offers simple dishes as well as good wine.
- The dining area of Max's looks like a library, and the chef's specialty is Italian cuisine, you cannot go wrong with their olio and wine.
Day 4 - Praiano
- When you are done with the city of Positano, it is time to head over to the fishing village called the Praiano which is located between the Amalfi and Positano, It is a huge fishing village with plenty of wild flowers all along rolling hills as well as beautiful bougainvilleas and boasts a beautiful and stunning view of the Mediterranean where Casa Angelina, owned by British Hotelier David Stein lies.
- Casa Angelina features white five story buildings with serenity and unbeaten view to the ocean. The interior of the hotel is decorated with classy decorations such as the modern lamps which are covered with fabric as well as the sofas lined with ivory covers which are white in color.
- Phillipe Stark resin furniture line the pool area which is surrounded by a teak terrace and is usually flocked by its guests who are just lying around, oiled up after a good massage.

Ravello - Day 5 and 6
- From Praiano, it won't take long to drive from there to arrive at Ravello, as there is a shortcut where you could go through minor fishing villages and a beach town until you finally come across a rough and curvy two lane road which would take you to Ravello.
- The Ravello had been mentioned in plenty of literature works, such as those from Virginia Woolf, Gore Vidal, Richard Wegned, as well as Charles Dickens. Ravello could be one of the most romantic place to visit.
Ravello - The two great hotels
- There are two popular hotels to go to when you are in Ravello. One is the heritage and historic Palazzo Sasso, which had grabbed numerous international hotel awards as well as boasts great service and hospitality. In the other hand, the Hotel Caruso which had just opened is the more popular choice among the younger generation due to its modernity as well as its glamorous pool scene.
Ravello - Final Rounds
- There are quite a lot of restaurants around the town of Ravello, surrounding the center Catholic Church right in the middle of the mains square of Ravello. Most of the restaurants in Ravello are often packed with tourists, however if you ask the locals, they would vouch for the lesser known ones located at the alleys and shades of Ravello. One of the best place to eat is the Cumpa Cosimo, where the same chef had been serving its guests for over 45 years.
- They offer great home style Italian cuisine, which would be a great final bite to end your trip around Amalfi coast of Italy.
