Grand Hotels in Milan: Le Meridien vs Diana.

rail-station-milano

1) I had some friends who’ve gone there and they tell me that service is not great and the room are not the best.

But…. why did you choose those 2 in first place?

2) There are other beautiful hotels in Milan… like the Principe di Savoia or Bulgari.

Never slept there, but some friends are and say they’re great.

I would feel confident in suggesting NHow hotel, in via Tortona. Great atmosphere, modern and fresh.

Btw… anybody could suggest a Business Hotel 4* at rates of about 150€? I know Hermitage hotel (via Messina) and Enterprise hotel (corso sempione). Nice spots, but if anybody has some others to suggest…

If you have to choose between the two..go for Diana, better located, nice aperitivo place…but if you change..many other better option in town ..
enjoy!

I think you should go to roma instead :)

Chedi.. is gorgeous..abit far from the center thought..but super cheap for waht is is and has a great swimming pool, sauna etc…
A close friend of mine, who works often with hotel in Milan, thinks that Hotel Melia’ (near Piazzale Lotto) is the best hotel in Milan.

I have never been there but you can give it a look.

3) Diana is cooler and trendier than Le Meridien, moreover for the aperitivo (even if less trendy than a couple of years ago).
For three girls, who, i guess, want to have fun, it’s therefore a better choice.
Anyway they are quite close to each other and not far from the city center. So in a very good position to move into the city and enjoy Milan!!

Stayed at the Diana on Tuesday this week – rooms are pretty big and decent and the garden is fab – much nicer that the Meridien. Area around station is very dodgy as well for three girls so I would not stay there.

I travel to Milano for business regularly and have stayed at Sheraton Diana, Le Merdien Gallia and also NH Now and here are my views for what they are worth:

4) Sheraton and Le Meriedien are now part of the same group called Starwood Hotels…offer pretty much the same services and rooms. For me the Le Meridien Gallia near to Central Station is fine – nothing dodgy as many people travelling to and from the station. Also within easy access to Armani Prive and Corso Alessandro Menzonni. Room at Gallia are decent size and bathrooms quite big!

5) NH is supertrendy at reception level BUT rooms are nothing special, small and not in exact centre of city so U have to take a taxi to get around…also the rate of around Eur250 (what I paid) is not great value for money!

Milano has 2 types of hotels…the ‘grand dame’ places like Westin, Principe,Gallia which are older more traditional 5 star hotels vs. trendy like NH, Bulgari, Chedi and a few others…it all depends what your budget is and what U prefer!

I’ve been in both hotels for business reason and i can tell you that the Diana is a better place just because of the fun, i mean for someone travelling for business is great if you want you dont even have to go out to have fun… The Aperitivo bar is really cool and lively and becomes a big party later on that can lead you to meet new people to go to more parties… Le Meridien its a wonderful hotel too but ive found it a bit less fun inside…

Why dont you go to : Bulgari hotel vey cool!! or Principe di Savoia in Piazza Repubblica or in front of it Plaza?? dont go to other hotel. AF

Another good hotel in town is the Park Hyatt.

In my opinion if you want sth cool/trend you could book sth at the Townhouse Hotels ( they have two 4 stars and a seven star inside the Galleria) or at the BVLGARI which has a really interesting SPA. If you need sth for business meetings the Baglioni in Via Senato or the Four Seasons could be a good pick.
The issue with the Gallia could be the surrounding by night..The Diana Majestic is a good balance. Principe di Savoia represents the equivalent of the Ritz in Madrid or of the R&C Orfelia…Depends on your needs.

Meridien provides larger rooms and better services. Overall it’s the best option versus Diana which may need an improvement in room decoration and service. On the other hand, like fellow people stated, it may be a bit more fun and trendy-but only during warm seasons due toe the outdoor lounge and garden.

Try to book in Park Hyatt
It s located in the center and it s really beautiful.
