Comments and Advices from our Guests:
1) I liked the hotel which was slightly over the top – the very dated decor (though I kept being told it was all the orginal decor) as you walk in was scarey (don’t let the website fool you into thinking it is modern looking – though there are parts which are…the out doors seating area and the spa)…I guess we were lucky as the staff were friendly and accomodating and certainly made me feel welcome…and the room was very comfortable…
2) I was impressed by standard refurbished rooms, rather small, but very cosy and well-designed! But the suites weren’t worth visiting, too small and old for the money you pay.The “Accanto” restaurant is so good! Speaking about the staff, quite friendly and willing to oblige, but last year I caught one of the cleaning ladies wearing my sunglasses and my hairpin…
3) It really need a refurbishement, but its a unique place in Milano… An antique masterpiece.
4) Good refurbishments done recently – rooms are either quite old-fashioned or modern and bright.

5) Terrible area, very dangerous at night. I can’t stand to those heavy and dusty tents and old furniture. not worth it. elisa
6) Terrible unsafe location far from downtown, nice rooms, must improve service
7) Renovated rooms are beautiful and the pool and spa area are great. The service was a bit lacking, and I was shocked to pay 35 euros for a simple continental breakfast in the room.
8) As someone who spends half my time in Milan, I’d have to say that The Principe is actually very well located. This is where I generally stay when in town. It’s about five minutes on foot to Corso Como, Isola and Brera, which are sort of the Greenwich Village areas of Milan with cool, quirky shops and lots of bars and nightclubs. The “mainstream” shopping area is 15 minutes on foot max, but there’s a complimentary limo service to take you there and back so not an issue. It’s a great old fashioned palace hotel – the Claridges or The Ritz of Milan.
9) The suite is unbelievable, probably the most beautiful in Italy, but the average rooms are quite old and need some refurbishment.
10) Very serious!
11) An institution in Milan, lived there for 3 months and can’t complain. Best value for money, much better than Four Seasons (twice as expesensive for same comfort) and Park Hyatt (minibar in the toilet (!), slippers hidden everytime in a different place instead of being placed at the side of the bed, rooms have a very “cold” style). 4 seasons better in one detail: the belt of the bathrobe is always in the loops (I hate it when it’s not and falls on the floor!). Principe is the place to be if you spend a lot of time in Milan.
12) The hotel is ok but the service is atrocious !
13) Decor is sort of fake Napoleon III (actually quite fun in its totally kitsch style), good size coloured marbles bathrooms, most rooms are large with crisp linen bedsheets. Ask for the rooms with views on the Piazza della Republica, (best sizes + you get the sun in the morning, when from your bed, you raise the electric black-out blinds and curtains…) and ONLY stay in the main building. Large ratio of staff/guests, and one of the few hotels left where the staff remembers your name forever it seems. You can sunbathe in the summer on the roof terrace by the pool… 15 minutes walk to Piazza della Scala max.

14) It’s now a hotel of Dorchester Group – pretty far outside of the center
15) During Fashion week its beyond!!! But, the stuff can have an attitude, unless they know u, then they are the best!!!
16) Very, very dated hotel in need of serious refurbishment in the bedrooms. defenitely not a hotel to saty in for a business trip as it doesn’t even have web connections in the room!
17) Nice spa. Bad location. If you are coming to Milan by car, their car park is where you could leave your Ferrari for a few days, and just walk around.
Portofino World, a world apart.
