The peculiar veneration towards St. George is proven by the attention given to His sanctuary, parts of which had been destroyed in the 1944 bombings, from the many ex-priests.

The rise to St. George can be taken from the piazzetta on the right. A few minutes romantic walk. Ample view with available field-glasses. We suggest wearing a small sweater from the afternoon on. It is advised to bring liquids and suitable shoes

From the Castle Tower one may get a good view of the headland extending itself onto sea for 4 km, in addition to the Tigullio gulf and its thermal baths from the mountain passes of the Appennino Ligure. From the adjacent small castle and the near tower one may see a big sector of the Alto Tirreno Sea.

The peculiar position of this observing place had been chosen by the Byzantines of the Eastern Roman Empire for the control and the sighting of ships approaching the coast in aid of the fleet residing in Genova.

Often in ancient times, the lookout and protection duties would be given to the owners of churches-observatories dedicated to saints who protected against illnesses, injuries and wounds such as St. Apollinare, St. Pantaleo, St. Eufemiano. The general protection in Portofino was in the hands of St. George.

Castle Brown, the Fortress of Portofino.

The Castle Brown is surrounded by a Mediterranean garden rich in flowers, rose gardens and arbors. The landscape is consistently enchanting facing the gulf until the Baffe tip.

The room on the first floor, is covered by domes of Lombard type on the centre of which there is a big triptych and, on the right side, a Majolica stove. During the afternoon a small sweater or top is usually advisable when in Portofino.

Built around the year 1000 in a strategic position in order to control the entrance to the inlet. In the following centuries it was renovated and enlarged time after time. Mid-way through the renovation traces of an existing roman tower dating between the II-III century AD were found.

Since 1961 it is owned by the Town of Portofino which often uses it for exhibitions. The castle is surely worth visiting thanks to the wonderful landscape that can be enjoyed from there and which comprises the whole Town of Portofino and the bay.

Dolce & Gabbana: the 20th anniversary.

Hotels in Milano Italy

A recent survey from Wealth Bulletin in cooperation with Super-Yacht Magazine has listed the top three spots in the ranking of ports Travel most expensive in the world. It’s not a surprise for PortofinoWorld.com that are occupied by three of our Italian places: Capri, Porto Cervo and Portofino.

In the fantastic Isle of Capri, the small bay and the exclusive services make the average daily rate for a boat over 24 feet up to 2,900 euros. Less, 2,500 euros per day, costs to be in one of the 60 exclusive seats in Porto Cervo, Emerald Coast, but the price goes up if you aspire to find accommodations in the super exclusive Yacht Club in Portofinoone of the eight wonders of the world – that offers only six places available to 2,350 euros per day.

The days about the famous Pitti Men Fashion Week are the only moments when Florence in Italy becomes the ideal setting for events of all kinds, improvising an occasion race between the curious and/or most glamourous party.

Everything usually begins on Monday evening with the celebration of the publishing house Mondadori – on the old Leopolda Station – dedicated to films that have shaped the history of fashion, but since Tuesday 15 (today) the big parties started, in the really sense of the word.

From the 3.30pm already begins the first DJ set at the Fortezza of Florencethe Convention Centre where usually Pitti Uomo runs – sponsored by Alpha delta Phi brand and then from the rebirth Guru Company - after the bankrupt of the former owner Matteo Cambi - which combines the sound of console with the projection of images arriving from the National Geographic.

In the evening CP Company presents the guitarist Maurizio Solieri’s perfomance. In the same time you can go to have a drink into the Erede Chiarini’s shop in Via Roma, where it is served on the flowered terrace.

The king of vintage A.N.G.E.L.O. proposes drinks in the store in Via dei Cimatori, unlike the less glamourous and more cultural Le Coq Sportif, which sponsors the exhibition of the cycling museum of photography.

Capri, plenty of late night partying.

Capri is – without any doubt – one of the most beautiful jewels of Italy, and we are very proud about it. It embraces and great seaside and walks, fantastic wellness structures and Hotels, delicious Restaurants and that Mediterranean island spirit that make each visit a memorable one.

What our Guests say:

1) During the summer I only spent a couple of days. Everyone was so friendly and I walked down from Ana Capri to the shore!!! I got lost so many times but it was definitely a beautiful experience. I’ll definitely be back! Whenever I taste limoncello in NY it brings memories of the summer days in Capri.

2) Been to Capri a gazilion times and used to live in Positano. Nothing bad about the island. Gorgeous!. Unlike Positano, it has a piazza, or really a piazzetta because it is so small. Athough there is the glitz of the designer shops, it is still very charming when you walk on the windy back streets. It is pedonale, or pedestrian, only. Terrific restaurants. Plenty of late night partying. Anema e Core is a must! Be prepared to dance on the tables.

3) My fave Hotel is Casa Morgano, which is owned by the same family that owns the Grand Hotels Quisisiana – one of the top 20 in Europe – but I prefer Casa Morgano because it is quiet and small. I go to GQ for aperitivo and late night drinks.

Piazza Duomo at 9.30pm: here we go! The meeting comes a little after the spring break. Farewell spring pub crawl, the call to which 73 Facebook’s buddies have answered. In Piazza Duomo, at 9.30pm, they are some dozen: someone tries to contact the latecomers on Twitter.

The staff leader, who leads a group of 4 who have organized the drinking tour, shouts: «Time’s up, here we go».

Just a bit of walking, while making acquaintance with the group (42 people, numbered) to finally get to the Club House in via Ginori. They get in, pay 15 euro, and get a mark on their hand to stand out from the rest for the next 5 hours and get the drinks included in the price.

They spend there the first hour: one may drink all the sangria (well, something similar) he/she want. Then the next stop, with a free shot drink. The staff guys are like guardian angels: they drink too, but in moderation. They make the boys (especially the girls, who seem a bit unfamiliar with high heels) get on the sidewalk, they choose the most pedestrian path and gather the latecomers.

They shout a lot, too. The group follows them.
