BACKGROUND

Many people have written and talked about Portofino especially considering the look mundane, historic, architectural and natural, this work is rather late to offer the reader on a global cultural tourism in this village from its origins to today. The first chapter considers the historical aspect of the site under study and its discovery by early noble aristocrats and foreigners whose presence made it famous already in the nineteenth century. The information is not only the result of personal library search, but also interviews with Antonio Nannicini a cultured population of Portofino, which has published several books on the history of the village. In this first part I also explained the architecture of the center, and the functional change of its territory dall'Ottocento the Second World War through the aid of maps and photographs supplied by the city or taken personally, and through the ISTAT data on the population.

The second chapter shows an analysis of tourist Portofino, based on statistical material and bibliography on environmental, cultural, sporting and accommodation during the period of time ranging from 1996 to 2005. The third chapter, however, concerns the analysis of tourist demand and especially internationally, which is considered arrivals and hotel attendance distinct nationality for the period 1996-2005: to ~ unfortunately, not been possible to find those relating to arrivals and national presence by region of origin.

The Coast Guard of Portofino, and the direction represented by top Circom of Santa Margherita Ligure, in addition to providing maps and information on Marine Protected ¡outlined in Chapter II, have also made available statistical data port and cards needed to achieve the fourth chapter on yachting and cruise traffic: these two forms tourist considered "out of the hotel were analyzed separately through an overview of the port, the different types of boats that sail and services for boating pleasure craft. Finally in Appendix been translated from English into the site of 'Hotel Splendido, which represents an example of presentation and selling on-line bidding of the product to potential tourists buyer of one of the largest and most luxurious hotels in the world.
